Why settle for less, even if you have to wait?

There is this girl I've been friends with for over a year now. Around the beginning of last December, our friendship had turned into more. She is a total sweetheart, and a beautiful person. We have so many things in common, it's unreal. We aren't exaclty boyfriend/girlfriend yet, or at least we don't have those expectations... but it is very much a possibility. However, even though we are into the same things (career wise/artistically) we are at slightly different paths in our lives. She is, in fact, over 3 years younger than me. Also, she had broke up with her ex about a couple weeks before we started hitting it off.

So, the timing is such, that she doesn't want to run into things... even though I fit her ideals in a partner. We are young, too (early 20's). Based on all this - and there is more, but I'll keep it short for blog sake - I don't exactly feel inclined to go looking around, for something else.

I can envision myself holding off untill the time is right for both of us. Based upon my career path, I can easily see myself, and even her, traveling to other countries... so, we could very well be across the globe from each other. I just feel, why settle for less, even if you have to wait? Regardless, people on other sides of the earth could just as well date other people.... easily. But still, would it be right to do that? or is true love determined patience and will?

I'd love to hear what anyone thinks of this... or if anyone has had such an experience.

gamblinjohn, You're facing a real dilemma here.

If I were you, I would re-check my critera. Are you sure that you're in love ? More importantly - are you sure that SHE loves you ?

There's alot that you need to figure out before taking the decision. Here's a resource that I think you'll find helpful: The Psychology of Falling in Love. The link is in my signature. Hope that helps

    Good luck buddy
